Australian market set to open lower

The Australian market looks set to open lower following the lead of Wall Street which has fallen more than three-quarters of a per cent.

At 0645 AEDT on Tuesday, the March share price index futures contract was down 41 points at 5,220.

In equities news on Tuesday, the National Australia Bank releases its Quarterly Australian Consumer Anxiety Index and special report entitled Factors Impacting Cost of Living.

No major equities news is expected.

In Australia, the market on Monday closed lower following the release of disappointing US jobs figures.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 20.3 points, or 0.38 per cent, lower at 5,292.1.

The broader All Ordinaries index was down 19.5 points, or 0.37 per cent, at 5,296.8.
