Aussie shares close lower

The Australian share market has closed lower, with the big banks giving up gains from the previous session and the miners weighed down by fresh falls in iron ore prices.

At the close on Wednesday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 39.9 points, or 0.74 per cent, lower at 5,375.8, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 40.0 points, or 0.74 per cent, at 5,375.9, according to preliminary figures.

On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was 32 points lower at 5,373, with 27,016 contracts traded.
