Dear %%first_name%%,

Our stock market spiked briefly this week following the recent China data. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for better news but while we’ve had the worst start to the year in terms of our markets, I am prepared to look beyond the gloom.

In fact, in today’s Switzer Super Report today, Tony Featherstone also looks beyond the (retail) gloom and headlines around Dick Smith woes, uncovering some gems in the sector. Fund manager Randal Jenneke also goes beyond the pessimism and sees a number of growth drivers in other parts of our economy. He nominates CSL and Brambles as two stocks he likes. We also welcome back Barrie Dunstan, who gives us a great insight into how he’s now managing his SMSF – for Barrie, it’s also about keeping a long-term focus in these jittery times.

In Questions of the Week, we take a look at what the CYBG Plc demerger from the NAB will mean to NAB’s share price when it trades ex-entitlement, and look at what makes a good corporate bond manager.

And in Buy, Sell, Hold – what the brokers say, a slew of A-REITs are upgraded but one big miner gets a downgrade.

In two months’ time, I’ll be hosting the inaugural Switzer Investor Strategy Day. It’s a great opportunity for all of you gain some really good investment ideas, practical strategies and meet all our experts including yours truly. Hope to see you on the day. Click here to register.

Sincerely,

Peter Switzer
