Dear %%first_name%%,
Australians collectively went to the movies almost 90 million times to see 758 films released last year. The Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, looks like it will gross over $1 billion worldwide. In his article today, our regular contributor to this Report, Tony Featherstone says that despite the gloom, cinemas are still a great business when the content is right and some cinema-related stocks on the ASX and overseas exchanges offer value.
CMC Markets’ Chief Market Strategist Michael McCarthy reminds us the Australia 200 index had a stellar run since December 24, however, the price action is now pointing to weakening and the potential for a correction could be increasing. He says whether you act on the technical picture he paints in his article today is up to individuals, depending on their personal investment strategy and circumstances and states that long-term holders may prefer to stay in the market and ride out any pullbacks.
And in Buy, Hold, Sell – What the Brokers Say, it has been a quiet week for stockbroker upgrades and downgrades, with three of each so far this week.
In Questions of the Week, Paul Rickard answers readers’ queries about Medibank, Centuria’s Investment Bond, Challenger and closing an SMSF.
Finally, our Switzer Investor Strategy Day is coming to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in late April and early May. Click on the event you would like to attend below to claim your free tickets:
Talk to you Saturday!
Sincerely,

Peter Switzer
