Dear %%first_name%%,

Listed investment companies (LICs) have been in the news lately and a lot of smarties have been telling me that LICs selling at a discount look like good value. I was even surprised when Paul Rickard, during our Investment Master Class held at our conferences in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane last week, admitted he buys LICs. In my article today I answer the question: when is the right time to pick a good LIC?

As Paul Rickard points out in his article today, one of the highlights of this reporting season has been the robustness of dividend payments. Paul has picked 4 stocks that stood out from an “income” sense, offering attractive dividends with reasonable security.

And despite reporting season being somewhat “disappointing”, there are always exceptions, with several companies hitting it out of the park. In his article today, James Dunn looks at 3 shining stars and also 3 companies that performed weaker than expected.

Meanwhile, in Buy, Sell, Hold – What the Brokers Say, Rudi Filapek VanDyck says the busiest week of reporting season was huge for broker upgrades and downgrades. Origin and Santos both enjoyed upgrades, while Brambles copped two downgrades.

And finally, in our Hot” Stock today, CMC Markets’ Chief Market Strategist, Michael McCarthy explains why he likes A2 Milk (A2M) but doesn’t like Qantas (QAN).

Enjoy the read and your week!

Sincerely,

Peter Switzer
